Men In Black the comic book

To be honest I never read any of the Men In Black comic books, and I never knew it even was based off of a comic book, but I've seen all of the movies and now am curious about the comic book. While doing reasearch on the comic book I learned that it was published by Marvel Comics and they only made six issues of the comic book, which would explain why it is so unheard of. The comic book was created by Lowell Cunningham in the 1990 and they stopped making them in 1991. The comic book's story line is the same of the movies. A top secrect governmetn agency that monitors good and bad paranormal activty here on Earth; such as aliens, demons, zombies, and other paranormal begins. When reading up on the comic book I was really suprised of how much of the movie stayed true to the comic. Such as the character Kay and Jay are protrayed in the movie exactly the same way as in the comic book. This suprised me so much because usually they change a lot of the characters and how they are when they do remditions, but the comic was really similar to the movies. Also the mind eraser that they use multiple times throughout the movies is directly from the comic book. Although I am kind of sad to learn that they only made six issues of the comic. I would have really liked to see the story of the comic go for more than a few issues. I feel they should make another issue of the comic book, because a lot of people have fallen in love with the movies they made and also I believe it would become a very popular comic book. I did find however a short retribution to the comic book, where they took the characters from the movies and made a short comic book version it, not adding anything new but just basically making the movie into a comic book.

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

One of the reason Fantastic Four is one of my favorite comic books is because it was the first comic book to have a team of Superheros, and I really liked that Stan Lee was the creator. The reason I like the movie so much is because I am a big fan a Jessica Alba, and have seen all of the movies she's done good or bad. This is the sequel to the first Fantastic Four and I have to say that I honestly think it's better than the first one. The story begins with Mister Fantastic and Invisible woman's wedding but when they discover a  silvery humanoid flying around and mysterious craters forming across the world the government asks them the check it out. When the human torch catches up to the "Sliver Surfer" he takes the Human Torch into the atmosphere and drops him. Usually the Human Torch would be able to fly out of these sort of situations, but after touching the Silver Surfer he is having trouble using his powers. At the last moment he shoots out flames and goes to tell the others what happened but when he starts to touch the others they end up switching powers, and are having trouble keeping their own. Meanwhile Mister Fantastic is trying to find out where the Silver Surfer came from he notices that theres a pattern and that every planet this Surfer has landed on have all been destroyed. But what the Fantastic Four don't realize is that the craters that the Silver Surfer created has just released Dr. Von Doom from 2 years in a metal statue. While the Fantastic Four are trying to catch the Surfer Dr. Doom is coming up with a plan to take back whats his. When the Fantastic Four finally catch the Surfer they come to realize that he is not the destruction, in fact they learn he is just a messenger from a cloud that consumes everything in its was Galactus. The Silver Surfer also mentions to Invisible Woman that his board is a GPS for Galactus and it is his board that he gets all his power. But while they have the Surfer in custody Dr. Doom steals the board in order to achieve his goal in being number one in the world, but when the Fantastic Four show up it's a fight to the death and they realize they can't defeat him while he has the board. So they decide to give the Human Torch all of their powers and with that he defeats Dr. Doom, but all isn't safe. Galactus is right outside our atmoshpere ready to consume Earth, but when the Silver Surfer sacrifices himself, he flies into Galactus destroying it, the world is now safe again, and after all the credits run through is shows an image of the Silver Surfer floating through space showing he is still alive. This by far is the best Fantastic Four movie and I hope they continue to keep making them.

Fantastic Four

Marvel Comics first debuted The Fantastic Four in 1961, being the first rising comic book with a superhero team. The comic book has been remade into a movie twice, once in 1994 and then again the 2005, but the 2005 remdition has to be my favorite. The superhero team consists of: Mister Fantastic, a scientific genuis, who can strech his body to incredible lenghts and shapes; Invisible Woman, who can go invisible at any given time and can also project a powerful force fields; Human Torch, who can generate flames and fly by surrounding himself with fire, and the Thing who is made of stone with the ability of superhuman strength and endurance. The 2005 remdition starts with the four heading off into space to study a cosimc energy cloud, but when the trip goes bad and they are exposed to cosmic rays, they return home with their very own special ability. When the Fantastic Four show their abilities to the public they become big, people are cheering their names, they are well like, and accepted in society. When Victor ( Mister Fantastic's old classmate , and ceo of a major company) hears about the uprising of the Fantastic Four he begins to become jealous; starting to  steal a heatseeking missile and also a supercooling unit, which he is using to mutate his arm, turning it into an organic metal, and allowing him to produce bolts of electricity. While the fame of the Fantastic Four overiding his company's downfall, Victor sets out to use his new ability for revenge on them. The Fantastic Four have to settle their differences and come together in order to defeat Dr. Doom (Victor). In the end the Fantastic Four Deafet Dr. Doom and accept their roles as superheros, or so they think.....

The Amazing Spider-man

Spider-man has been a well known comic book character for many decades; making his debut in the early 1960s. Just recently they released a new version of Spider-man known as the Amazing Spider-man, and by far the best rendition of the comic book. I say this movie is the best so far is because this movie stays true and captures the element of Spider-man, they way it does in the comic book. For instance in the comic book Spider-man creates a device that he wears on his wrist, that shoot out spider webs when needed. Well in all the shows and past movies they show him gaining the ability to shoot webs from his wrist, but unlike the rest, this Spider-man creates his "web shooters" him self thus staying true to the comic book. Also the story line of who Peter Parker is and they way he acted stays true to the comic. For example in the comics he is portrayed as sort of a nerd, anti-social, and accident-prone, which is what made Spider-man so relatable and made the character popular. The villain in the new Spider-man is Dr.Curt Connors, who is currently working on a serum to cure illnesses. While dealing with a missing limb Dr. Connors tries the serum on himself in hopes of regenerating him arm. At first everything goes smooth, his arm regenerates and he is thrilled that he has his arm back. Soon after the regrowth of his arm he starts to mutate into a reptile, thus the Lizard is born.Spider-man must defeat the Lizard and deal with death of his parents and his uncle. This by far is the best remake of the Spider-man comic books' and i am very excited to watch the sequel.

Heroes

Usually I talk about comic book that are so
good and well known they make TV shows and
movies about them. Well this time I'm going
to talk about a TV show that did so well they
turned it into a comic book, Heroes. The gist
of the story is about different people who
have been born with or achieved supernatural
abilities. While dealing with the stress and
hardship that comes with ones powers, there
also is an organization who is trying to
locate and imprison people with a mystical
power. Not only do they abduct people with
special abilities, but they also run
experiments on them and conduct their own
experiments to create these kinds of people.
The TV series ran for a complete four seasons
before calling it quits, but ending the
series the way they did, they created an
uproar if angry fans. Even with the unset
fans, they show didn't make enough money to
continue productions. Instead they created a
comic book starting where the television
series left off. In my opinion the best part
of the show was the creativity of the
different abilities people had and the
storyline that brought some characters
together. Some of my favorite abilities were
the puppet master, he had the ability to
control and make them do whatever he desired.
Another one of my favorite abilities they had
on the show was a mind reader, but he wasn't
just your ordinary mind reader. He could also
push ideas or thoughts into your mind, to
make to you do something he wanted or make
you think a different ways, and change your
mind about any idea. He can even trap someone
in their own head or their dreams. If you
haven't watched the show yet, I'd defiantly
tell you to consider it. It's surprising,
thrilling and will keep you guessing the
whole way through.

The Incredible Hulk

The Incredible Hulk first appeared in the Marvel Comics in May 1962. Most people know the Hulk for being green, but what most people don't know is that he was originally gray in the comic books. In 2008 Universal/Marvel Studios released the Incredible Hulk. It sheds light on a different background story then seen in previous Incredible Hulk adaptations.

The movie begins with Bruce Banner ( the Incredible Hulk ) working on what he believes to be a serium to protect humans from gamma radiation, but it's really a jump start for a army super soilder. When an experiment fails that exposes Bruce Banner to massive amounts of gamma radiation the Hulk is born. In rage and confusion he destroys his lab and injures Betty ( his girlfriend ) and goes on the run, hiding from the United States Army.
Fast forward five years and Bruce is working in a bottling factory, searching for a cure for what he believes is a curse. When his where abouts are discovered by the U.S Army he has to move on and continue his research, but first he needs to collect irreplacable data located back in the U.S. Realizing they can't stop the Hulk without some sort of upper hand they green light the creating of their own super soldier, Blonsky/Abomination, using the same serium that created Captain America. In a quick but vicious first fight the Hulk literally crushes Blonsky, but the serium helps him heal completely.
While searching for a cure Bruce encounters a Celluar Biologist, Dr. Samuel Sterns, whom is trying to help him find a cure. When Sterns gets a blood sample from Bruce he realizes the medical applications of his disease are limitless and mass produces his blood. Mean while the Army has been tracking Bruce and trailed him to this Doctors. Taking him out without incident, Blonsky forces sterns to inject the Hulks blood into himself. When the 2 seriums mix they create Abomination, one of the Hulks strongest Nemisis. In an all out battle the two teear down half of Harlem in an epic battle in which the Hulk emerges victorious and back in the good graces of the U.S. After the fight Bruce realizes he should stop focusing on a cure for the Hulk and start focus on controlling. This is by far my favorite adaptation of the Hulk as it stay true to the roots of the comic book.

Superman Returns

Superman Returns came out in 2006 and is meant to be the fifth and final installment in the Original Superman motion pictures series. the film was meant to be a sequel to Superman one and two, but it made Superman three and four irrelevant. The story begins with Superman hearing that Krypton wasn't destroyed by scientist, so he goes in search of the remains of Kyrpton. After an absences of five years and no discovery of Krypton, Superman returns to a world that thinks they no longer needs him. He also finds that his greatest love, Lois Lane, has moved on and has had a child. While his nemisis Lex Luthor got released from prison and married an old rich widow for her fortunes. Clark resumes his job at the Daily Planet. Meanwhile Lex is planning to create new land masses with Kryptonian crystals. He sucessed in creating one by incaseing it in a kryptonite tube. So that the mass is made of Kryptonite. When Superman tries to stop him he is turned human from the Kryptonite, stabbed, beat, and then kicked into the ocean where he slowly drowns. Lois Lane then jumps into the ocean to pull him out, and proceedes to pull the kryptonite knife out of his side, thus saving his life. Realizing he has to stop Lex he flies to the sun to achieve maximum strenght. He the flies down below the land mass and lifts it up carring it to outter space. After Lex is defeated and back in prison, Superman comes to find out that Lois Lane's Son is actually his. This is the closing of the original Superman.

Superman 1 - 4

This movie is a little older than our generation is use to watching, but it ties in to a remake that is about to be done. The first Superman follows the coming and growing of Clark Kent/Superman, and his introduction to the world. Givin his name by a reporter Lois Lane, Superman becomes the protector of Metropolis. I really like how this movie shows the planet of  Krypton, and its destruction. It helps you get a better and clearer idea of where Superman came from. The second Superman show cases the return of Kryptons most notorious criminals, Ursa and Zod. They come to take over planet, and they possess the same powers as Superman. So Superman has to find another way to defeat his eneimes. The key to Supermans success is his knowledge of the 32 known galaxies. The third Superman in my opinion is the worst. It's about a computer geek that creates a computer that can destroy the planet. I believe the idea behind it was to make the computer be like Brainiac, which is one of Supermans greatest foes in the comic books. He beats it with the help of the creator, who relises it was a mistake creating it. Part four Lex Luthor creates his own version of Superman called Nuclear Man, which infects Superman that causes a rift between Clark Kent and Superman. He eventually overcomes the infection and whoops Nuclear Man. This is the original jauggernaut of comic book movies.

Batman Trilogy

Most people know Batman from the cartoons, the comic book, or the most recent movies. But what most people dont know is that the Batman adaptation actually began in 1943. Shown in black and white the movie had two sequals made after it. Then another mvoie was made in 1966 which followed the comic book of the 1960s. 25 years later Tim Burton recreated the Batman movies in 1980s starting Michael Keaton in the lead role, and Jack Nicholson as "The Joker". While the movie was a bit cheesy, the flick made enough money to get sequels started and Burton returned with villains Catwoman and The Penguin for 1992's Batmans Returns. But then Warner Bros left us with Joel Schumacher and a replacement Batmen Val Kilmer (Batman Forever - 1995) and George Clooney (Batman & Robin - 1997).With a new direcrtor in place the movies were still too cheesy, and had too many villains mixed in. After an 8-year hiatus, Warner Bros rebooted the Batman films with 2005's Batman Begins. Directed by Christopher Nolan it became a more realistic and relatable Batman. Batman Begins follows the origin of Batman, how he became Batman and why he choose that path. Soon after Christopher Nolan release the Dark Knight staring Heath Ledger as the Jokern in 2008. Next Christopher Nolan released a third and final movie to the trilogy the Dark Knight Rises in 2012, with Bane as the new villian. Christopher Nolan is actually working on Man Of Steel which is going to work up to a Justice League movie, in Which Batman will be rebooted again.

Avengers

Most people know Avengers from the movie released in 2012 by Marvel comic books and Walt Disney Pictures. What the general public doesnt relize was that Avengers was a comic book started by Marvel Comics which brought all the Marvel characters together. The comics issued its first comic book in 1963 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Since then they have made serveral cartoons of the Avengers, but none of them were as worldworld wide or sucessful as the 2012 movie, ranking as the third highest grosing film of all time. making an astonishing 1.5 billion only in the first week, and if you didnt catch it in theathers, it is to be realsed onto DVD September 25, 2012.

The story begins with Loki, a leader from a extraterrestrail race known as the Chitauri. Lokis mission is to collect the tesseract for his race and in return loki will get an army so he can take over Earth. Meanwhile there is a team of scientist working to try and figure out this tesseract, when all of a sudden it starts radiating a unknown source of energy. The tesseract suddenly opens a portal allowing Loki to reach Earth. When Loki arrives he destroys their research facility with powers not of this world. Seeing this catastrophy Nick Fury kick starts the avengers inative to join together and save Earth.

I would have to rate this movie one of the best comic book movies ever made. They did an awesome job putting all these characters into one and having it flow nicely. If you havn't seen it yet, I would argue that renting will be worth your while. I love all these comic book characters and am happy they made a movie with all of them in it. The Avengers 2 is set to be released in 2015 hopefully with the same luck as the first one.

Smallville

Smallville started as a television series developed by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, based off of the DC comic book character Superman. The television series premered October 16, 2001 ending its run after 10 seasons on May 13, 2011.Ending the season created so many unhappy fans, that they decided to create a comic book following the television show and picking up on season 11 where the tv show left off.

The story begins with a meteor shower in the small town of Smallville, destroying half the town, the shower brought more than just rocks.A couple who got caught in the shower notice a young boy walking from the rubble. The couple ended up adopting the young boy and raising him as their own, unable to have children they seen this as a blessing from god. Little did they know this was much bigger than they could have imagined. As the young boy he posess super human strength and super human speed. Going through puberty he developes all of his other abilities, this show follows his journey through his changes.

I would reccomend this show and the comic book that follows, to anyone who is a superman fan. This show brings everything, suspense, romance, action, and a backround that other comic books and movies never showed.

The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead is a television series about a post apocalyptic world, based on the ongoing comic book, The Walking Dead, by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard. The comic book was first issued in 2003, which was picked up by AMC and released October, 2010. After the first season their ratings went through the roof, having the highest rated cable series premiere in 2010, and having the largest audience for an original series on AMC.

The story begins with a police officer named Rick Grimes, who has just awakened from a coma, to find the world overrun by zombies or walkers as they call them. It continues to follow Rick as he searches for family and a peaceful exsistance worth living for. As easy as that sounds Rick is faced with many challenges not only with the relentless and infectious walkers, but its not just the dead that Rick has to worry about, the living can be just as deadly.

If you like shows that keep you on the edge of your seat and keeps you guessing, than this is a show for you!!! If you have a weak stomach though I wouldnt recommend this to anyone, because it has some pretty gory sceens. I have been sucked in since the first season, and would rate this one of television best series. seasons 1 and 2 are out on dvd and season 3 continues on AMC October 14, 2012.
